SMARTePROBE

SMARTePROBE is a unique, brand new, simple-to-use, wireless, wifi-enabled plant soil moisture sensor that automatically notifies you whenever your plant needs watering! 

The key product design specifications for SMARTePROBE include:

1. Automatic email notification of when watering was required
2. Notification after watering has been done
3. Rechargeable batteries that never need replacing and that can be simply charged by plugging into a power adapter similar to how smart phones are charged
4. No need to charge the batteries for months at a time

The current SMARTePROBE prototype meets all of the above design requirements. In addition, SMARTePROBE features:

1. Simple multi-purpose pushbutton
2. Simple pushbutton press and hold for (1) immediate notification, (2) setting low-moisture threshold, (3) calibrating the probe, (4) connecting to the internet and configuration settings, and (5) uploading the latest version of the firmware
3. Audio beep and led light indicator confirming button operation and intent
4. Automatic weekly email update summary of the status of the plant soil moisture and battery level
5. Automated periodic reminders when your plant needs watering
6. Automated email warnings when the battery is low and needs recharging

The goal of SMARTePROBE is to provide automatic, reliable, and accurate monitoring of your indoor or outdoor plants. It is my hope and expectation that SMARTePROBE will enhance your enjoyment of your indoor plants by reducing or eliminating the uncertainty of plant care.
